Disney World Debuts New Interactive TV; Will Include Disney+

With Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs hours away from welcoming its first guests, Laughing Place was invited to take a tour of the new addition. While Gran Destino can boast many exciting offerings and experiences, the biggest news just might have to do with the guest room televisions.

What’s happening:

Guests staying at Gran Destino Tower will be among the first to experience Disney’s new Interactive TV (ITV) project
The TV will be personalized to your Disney experience and will offer many new options for guests.
There are several tabs that give guests a variety of options

Rollout:

Now: The service is currently available at the Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort
End of 2019: It will be available at the rest of Coronado Springs
Future Years: The system will be deployed across Walt Disney World

Here is an overview of what the options on the new TV system

Watch TV:

Here guests can watch a selection of linear television channels including news and sports
Obviously a wide variety of ESPN and ABC networks are included
A new interactive program guide allows guests to see what is airing on each channel

Disney On Demand:

Here guests can watch a wide-variety of on-demand Disney programming
Currently the service offers Disney movies, videos on Disney Vacations, bedtime stories, programs & events, and Disney Learning content
Once Disney+ launches in November, guests will be able to access that service as well

Connect My Device:

Guests will be able to cast their Chromecast-enabled device
After connecting to the in-room wifi, guests will visit a URL to connect their device to their in-room TV
Once connected, guests can cast their content to their TV just as they would at home

My Disney Vacation:

Here guests can view their plans in My Disney Experience
In addition, guests can view their PhotoPass photos that had been taken throughout their visit

Hotel Services:

Here guests can find out information about their hotels
Sections include dining, shops, activities, spa & fitness, transportation, and guest services

Parks & More:

This section includes information about the theme parks and other offerings
The menu features a clean and easy-to-navigate interface
