  • A Complete Unknown – Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Sound, Best Costume Design – “The entire production otherwise gives off a hand-made, analog aesthetic that transports audiences back in time. And all of the musical performances, captured live, feel like concert events, making A Complete Unknown worth a trip to the movie theater.” – Alex Reif

  • A Real Pain – Best Supporting Actor, Best Original Screenplay – “Filled with beautiful moments and told with warmth and heart, the film stays with you and is guaranteed to resonate with adults feeling the same sense of disconnect from the peers they miss from their formative years. It’s a must-see.” – Alex Reif

  • Sugarcane – Best Documentary Feature – “Silence is essential in this beautiful piece of filmmaking. The atrocities mentioned are systematic and, for a culture that prides itself on community, they seep into the fiber of bloodlines. Numerous shots during the runtime sit on the faces of those affected, watching the decades of oppression wade through their eyes. It’s at once heartbreaking and hopeful, seeing their resilience. For every sliver of hope, there’s a necessary dose of reality.” – Marshal Knight

  • Inside Out 2 – Best Animated Feature – “All in all, Inside Out 2 is a worthy successor to the original, full of heart, humor and whimsical fun. It's a fantastic follow up, but doesn't live up to the impossibly high bar that the original set in place.” – Tony Betti

  • Elton John: Never Too Late – Best Original Song – “Elton John: Never Too Late is also a great reminder to everyone that happiness and joy is not achieved through artificial means, but rather are a composite of multiple events that have led to true inner peace. From the fire of stardom to retirement, Elton John has led a career path that is a one of a kind.” – Bill Gowsell

  • Alien: Romulus – Best Visual Effects – “It can be a difficult thing to balance while bringing new ideas to the concept, I’m certain, but Álvarez does so with a steady hand, delivering a more-than-satisfying number of thrills, scares, and gross-out moments that are sure to please fans of this series.” – Mike Celestino

  • Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes – Best Visual Effects – “I was so impressed by the first two-thirds of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (the action and visual effects are great, and the production design and performances are even better) that I was ready to call it my favorite entry in the franchise until I was left just a tad disappointed and confused by the film’s third-act climax and subsequent conclusion.” – Mike Celestino
