Regal Robot Reveals First Look at Jabba the Hutt Early Concept Maquette Replica from “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi”

And you thought the Jabba puppet that wound up on screen was gross!

Several years ago, the themed furniture and collectibles manufacturer Regal Robot released a replica of a Jabba the Hutt concept maquette from the pre-production stage of 1983’s beloved film Return of the Jedi. And today the same company revealed a first look at another Jabba maquette, this time depicting the Hutt crimelord as an even more grotesque-looking design.

What’s happening:

  • Regal Robot has released a first look at its upcoming new Early Concept Maquette Replica of Jabba the Hutt from Lucasfilm’s Return of the Jedi.
  • Two different editions of the maquette replica will be available: the Signature Edition with a plaque autographed by Industrial Light & Magic legend Phil Tippett (limited to 83 pieces), or the Legacy Edition which will include a one-of-a-kind sketch of Jabba drawn by Tippett himself (limited to only 40 pieces).
  • Star Wars collectors can reserve their copies of this unique item beginning this coming Tuesday, February 4th at 12:00 noon Eastern Time by visiting Regal Robot’s website.

What they’re saying:

  • Regal Robot: “The latest replica in Regal Robot’s Archive Collection pays homage to classic making-of documentaries. Regal has replicated Phil Tippett’s slug-like early concept maquette for Jabba the Hutt.  As part of the company’s Archive Collection, this is another authentic replica with impeccable lineage based on a 3D scan of the original sculpture in the prop archives.”
  • “This beastly maquette is a real look inside the mind of Tippett and his wide-open, imaginative style of creature design and a uniquely Regal Robot item to replicate! A tribute to the artistry involved behind the scenes of our favorite films, each maquette in this edition is meticulously hand painted by the artists in the company’s New York studio.”
