New Star Wars Experiences Coming to Hollywood Studios

Walt Disney World has announced that new Star Wars experiences are coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios on December 1.

Star Wars Launch Bay will be opening in the former location of the Magic of Disney Animation and will feature special exhibits and peeks behind-the-scenes, special merchandise and opportunities to encounter Chewbacca and Darth Vader.

At Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, the new segment featuring the Battle of Jakku will be incorporated into the experience. During the opening month everyone will experience the new adventure inspired by Star Wars: The Force Awakens. After that, it will be one of the random options that make up the attraction. It is presumed that the Disneyland edition of the attraction will follow the same roll-out plan.

Disney released a video preview of the new experience.

In addition, Walt Disney World announced that Star Wars: Path of the Jedi, will feature scenes from the complete Star Wars saga. While we know that this offering will take place at the Tomorrowland Theater in Disneyland, we do not know the venue for Walt Disney World at this time.

UPDATE: Disney has confirmed that it will occur at the former Sounds Dangerous theater by Echo Lake.

Also the popular Jedi Training Academy has been refreshed as Jedi Training: Trails of the Temple, inspired by Disney XD’s Star Wars Rebels. In this experience they will face Darth Vader along with the Seventh Sister, the new villains from the series.

It was also announced that Star Wars Weekends will not continue. It is unclear what this means for the previously announced Seasons of the Force.
