Characters Appear In New Socially Distant Greeting Location at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Walt Disney World continues to drop new guidelines that were installed when the parks reopened last July, but one thing that appears to keep increasing are random character appearances from socially distant locations, including a new one at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

What’s Happening:

  • While we are seeing many of the phased reopening guidelines that began when the parks reopened last July fall by the wayside (like temperature checks and relaxation stations), one thing that has remained a constant since last summer are distant character greetings and photo opportunities.
  • Over the last year we’ve seen characters popping up atop the Main Street Train Station at Magic Kingdom, in the lawns outside of the Imagination pavilion at EPCOT, and on the boats circling Discovery Island at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
  • Today, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we noticed what appears to be either a test of, or maybe even the debut of a new location for popular characters to greet their adoring fans from afar.
  • Near the Crossroads of the World at the entrance of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, across from Oscar’s Super Service, on Hollywood Boulevard, we spotted Donald Duck making an appearance on the balconies above the restrooms waving and dancing for his fans below.

  • While this may be one of the first times we’ve seen characters in this particular location, it’s not the first time we’ve spotted them at this park.
  • Guests can regularly see Mickey and Friends, Pixar Pals, and Disney Junior favorites in three different character cavalcades that randomly occur during the day. Star Wars favorites like Rey, Kylo Ren, and Chewbacca can be seen throughout the upper levels of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge as well.
  • As is the case with other character sightings, the appearance of Donald and various friends that appear in the new location can not be found in any times guide and are completely random.
