Walt Disney Imagineering’s Zach Riddley has shared a first look at what Guests can expect at EPCOT when Spaceship Earth turns into a “Beacon of Magic” during Walt Disney World’s 50th celebration starting October 1, 2021.

What’s Happening:
- Following the various testings spotted at night, Zach Riddley from Walt Disney Imagineering shared the following image on social media (seen above), giving Guests a first look at the Spaceship Earth “Beacon of Magic” lightning as teams continues work on finalizing the programming.

- Here is a previous look at the concept art shared, with lights installed on the reflective panels of Spaceship Earth, connecting to one another in a symbol of optimism resembling stars in a nighttime sky. The new lighting will continue beyond the 50th celebration.
Beacons of Magic:
- In celebration of the Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th anniversary, all four parks will be decked out with special celebratory decorations, including new lighting packages on the four park icons. These “Beacons of Magic” will transform the icons every night.
“The World’s Most Magical Celebration,” starts on October 1, 2021 at the Walt Disney World Resort and will continue to be celebrated for 18 months.
