Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort

Each Fall, the Disneyland Resort gets a little spookier as Halloween Time takes over both parks from September until October 31st. During this celebration, you'll find special decorations, meet and greets, attraction overlays, and more at both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. Additionally, if you really want to get into the Halloween spirit, you can attend Oogie Boogie Bash offered on select nights during Halloween Time.

Attraction Overlays

During Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, some of your favorite rides and attractions in Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure receive fun, festive, and sometimes frightening overlays. Here are some of the attractions you can experience during Halloween Time.

Haunted Mansion Holiday (Disneyland)

Inspired by the modern classic The Nightmare Before Christmas, Jack Skellington wrecks the halls of the famed Haunted Mansion, creating a holiday mash-up guests are dying to visit each year. Featuring a number of characters from Halloween Town (including Sandy Claws himself), effects and surprises exclusive to this Holiday overlay, and a gingerbread house made special each year, this is a guest favorite you won't want to miss.

Guardians of the Galaxy — Monsters After Dark (Disney California Adventure)

In Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, our heroes manage to escape the Collectors Fortress, but there seems to be a problem: they managed to forget Groot. Picking up just moments after the original attraction, this nightly overlay finds the gang attempting to rescue Groot while also avoiding some of the creatures that were accidentally set loose when the Guardians made their break for it. Note that, true to its name, Monster After Dark is only available once the sun goes down.

Carsland Haul-O-Ween (Disney California Adventure)

During Halloween Time, Radiator Springs becomes Radiator Screams, offering two Halloween-themed overlays: Luigi's Honkin' Haul-O-Ween and Mater's Graveyard JamBOOree. Additionally, you can meet Lightning McQueen and Mater dressed up in their festive Halloween costumes. Be sure to make a pitstop in CarsLand during your fall visit because, as Mater would say, "it's gonna be fuuuuuun!"

Oogie Boogie Bash (Disney California Adventure)

In addition to all of the Halloween fun guests can have during Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, the season also brings a special hard ticket event on select nights: Oogie Boogie Bash. These after-hours parties allow guest to enter the park as early as 3 p.m. and be treated to an evening of special entertainment, festive decor that transforms the park's atmosphere, and lots and lots of candy.

For more on this special event, be sure to visit our Oogie Boogie Bash guide.

Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit

Guests visiting the Downtown Disney District will have fun with a new pumpkin hunt featuring Pluto! Purchase a game board and stickers at select Disney merchandise locations, including World of Disney, and let the hunt begin. Guests can find hidden decorative pumpkins themed to Disney characters through the District, and then place the corresponding stickers on their game boards. Return your game board to a redemption location at World of Disney or Disney’s Pin Trader for a spooky surprise! Redemptions good through November 7th or while supplies last.

Halloween Screams Special Effects Show

A supernatural special effects show hosted by “Master of Scare-omonies” Jack Skellington and his ghostly dog Zero! Classic Disney villains like Maleficent and Ursula the Sea Witch will appear too as a medley of Halloween-inspired, show-stopping songs plays on. Guests will be able to view “Halloween Screams” from several different locations throughout Disneyland, including Main Street, U.S.A., Sleeping Beauty Castle and near “it’s a small world.” On weekends, a fireworks display caps off this seasonal spooktacular.
