The ART of Transportation: Disneyland Seamlessly Integrates New Guest Shuttle Busses

Resort area hotels have also implemented new shuttles.

Anaheim Regional Transportation, AKA ART, discontinued service yesterday, March 31st. However, Disneyland already has new shuttles to get guests from the Toy Story Parking Area to the theme parks.

What’s Happening:

  • The Orange County Register is reporting that Disneyland Resort has introduced a new shuttle bus service to transport about 7 million annual visitors between the Toy Story parking lot and the park entrances.
  • The change comes after the Anaheim Regional Transportation shut down operations, though most guests are unlikely to notice a difference.
  • Disneyland ensured shuttle service continued uninterrupted, with new buses closely resembling the previous ART vehicles.

  • Nearby cities and hotels are launching replacement transit options, including a new shuttle system in Garden Grove serving select hotels.

  • Several Anaheim hotels, including Hilton Anaheim and Anaheim Marriott, have started their own guest shuttle services to the resort.
  • The former ART system, launched in 1995, primarily served off-property visitors, with most ridership coming from the Toy Story parking lot route.
  • Future changes are planned as part of the DisneylandForward initiative, including a new 6,000-space Eastern Gateway parking structure.
  • Disneyland also plans to redevelop the Toy Story parking lot into a new entertainment district with attractions, hotels, shopping, and dining.

Disneyland Forward:

  • Disneyland is gearing up for some massive planned expansion coming to the resort.
  • Being fairly landlocked in Anaheim, CA, Disney has had to be extra creative in how it moves forward with adding even more magic to the original Disney resort.
  • Part of that expansion includes a massive overhaul of the Eastern Gateway, with a new pedestrian bridge, marquee, and parking structure.
  • Also arriving as part of several projects happening around the resort is a new Avatar-themed land headed to Disney California Adventure’s Hollywood Backlot and a Coco boat ride arriving in Pixar Pier.
