Montezooma: The Forbidden Fortress Officially Launches at Knott's Berry Farm

And can we say FINALLY!

Montezooma is back at Knott’s Berry Farm, as Montezooma: The Forbidden Fortress officially opened today!

What’s Happening:

  • Three and a half years ago, the class Schwarzkopf shuttle loop coaster Montezooma’s Revenge closed down for an announced reimagining into Montezooma: The Forbidden Fortress.
  • The Knott’s Berry Farm coaster originally opened back in 1978, becoming a classic thrill ride at the park.
  • What was supposed to be an off-season conversion, updating the launch system, replacing the trains, and refurbishing track, turned into years of speculation about whether the coaster would ever reopen.
  • This summer marked a massive step forward for the attraction as testing began.

  • After several reported media days and opening days, The Orange County Register is reporting that Montezooma: The Forbidden Fortress officially opened today, August 6th, at 12PM.
  • The attraction, in addition to its technical upgrades, got massive theming additions as well.

  • It’s great to see one of Knott’s most iconic attractions finally make its grand return to the park.
