Originally introduced for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration, KiteTails were able to enjoy a character-filled daytime performance that saw kites and inflatable floats dance across Animal Kingdom’s Discovery River Lagoon. Almost two and a half years since the offerings final performance, the staging area for the floats and props has been removed.
What’s Happening:
- Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the remains of the former KiteTails show have finally been removed.
- The show, which saw character balloons and kites decorate the Discovery River Lagoon, held its final performance back on September 30, 2022.
- Situated in front of the Expedition Everest bathrooms, the themed stage is where the kites would launch attached to jet skis.
- The posts for the dock still remain, however, the area looks much cleaner and intentional now that the unused area has been removed.
- At this time, no current entertainment offerings occur on Discovery River Lagoon. The seating area was built for 2017’s Rivers of Light nighttime spectacular. Featuring projects, fountain effects, and boats, the show’s two seating areas boast 5,000 seats. Hopefully, we will see a new entertainment offering in the area soon.
