Redd the Red Head Pirate Walk-Around Character Coming to Disneyland

Earlier this year we shared the news that Redd — the red-headed pirate — would not only debut in Disneyland’s version of the classic Pirates of the Caribbean but will also appear as a walk-around character in New Orleans Square. This week, the Disney Parks Blog confirmed the that Redd will make her first public appearance on Friday, June 8th.

  • According to the Disney Parks Blog, the brassy buccaneer will be voyaging to New Orleans Square this summer.
  • In an “interview,” Redd was asked if she was looking forward to greeting guests at Disneyland, she said, “I s’pose. I be searching for brave sorts of recruits for a few little ventures.”
  • Meanwhile, nearby Pirates of the Caribbean will reopen from refurbishment this June and feature a revamped auction scene.
  • Similar updates have already debuted at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World and at Disneyland Paris.

  • Recently, another classic attraction — Dumbo — debuted a new covered queue area as it opened from refurbishment.
  • The Disneyland Resort is currently celebrating Pixar Fest, including new entertainment, treats, and much more.
  • Speaking of Pixar, Pixar Pier will open in Disney California Adventure this June.
    • Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats, which is inspired by Monsters Inc., is already open on the Pier and is serving up lemon-flavored soft serve (among other treats).
    • Mickey’s Fun Wheel will become Pixar Pal-a-Round and feature various Pixar characters on each gondola. Get a sneak peek at some of the designs here.
    • Disney also shared pictures of Incredicoaster’s ride vehicles with their new skins and color schemes. The Incredibles-themed ride replaces California Screamin’.
    • Guests visiting Disney California Adventure will want to stop by the Blue Sky Cellar. This preview center highlights all of the exciting changes coming to Pixar Pier, including concept art, and working model roller coaster.
