Marvel Studios Reportedly Not Making An Appearance At This Year’s San Diego Comic-Con@Home

While traditionally, San Diego Comic-Con is a go-to event for Marvel Studios to peddle their wares, this year marks the second time that Marvel will not make any announcements during San Diego Comic-Con@Home, according to Deadline.

What’s Happening:

  • Reportedly, Marvel Studios is skipping this year’s San Diego Comic-Con@Home, which runs from July 23rd – July 25th.
  • Historically, Marvel has announced many projects at the event, with their most recent appearance in 2019 announcing their Phase 4 features with every star from Eternals, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Black Widow, WandaVision and others.
  • While Marvel didn’t make any announcements last year during San Diego Comic-Con@home either, the studio did take over a portion of the Walt Disney Company’s Investor Day 2020 last December to make announcements to great fanfare, just without the stage complete with uproaring live audience. The studio also uses the huge D23 Expo that takes place every other year in Anaheim to make announcements, and though that event isn’t taking place this year, it is set for September of 2022.
  • A live version of San Diego Comic-Con is set for later this year, but it remains to be seen whether or not Marvel Studios will show up to that event, or save their announcements for another Walt Disney Company Investors Day.
