"Sofia the First: Royal Magic" Sets Premiere Date, Previews Theme Song and Special Princess Appearances

Moana will meet Sofia for the first time, with Auli‘i Cravalho returning as her voice.

The release date for the return of Sofia the First to Disney Jr. has been revealed, alongside our first look at the reimagined theme song.

What's Happening:

  • Sofia the First: Royal Magic, the brand-new continuation of the popular Disney Jr. series Sofia the First, is set to premiere on the network and Disney Jr. on Demand on Monday, May 25.
  • The first eight episodes will be available to stream on Disney+ the next day, Tuesday, May 26 – continuing to roll out globally throughout 2026.
  • It was also announced today that Moana, Rapunzel, Jasmine, Cinderella, Aurora and Elena of Avalor will make special appearances throughout the series, offering guidance, wisdom and support when Sofia needs it the most.
  • Specifically, this marks the first time that Moana will interact with Sofia, with Auli‘i Cravalho set to reprise her role as Moana.
  • Disney Jr. also shared a first look at the series' theme song, a new take on the original Sofia the First series’ iconic theme song.
  • Said theme song will be released on streaming services tomorrow, Friday, April 3, followed by the full soundtrack on May 29 through Walt Disney Records.

  • Sofia the First: Royal Magic will follow Sofia as she attends The Charmswell School for Royal Magic, where she discovers she is the most magical princess in the realm and must learn how to master her powers while making new royal friends.
  • The series will star Ariel Winter as the voice of Sofia, alongside Nate Torrence as Pepper, Mela Pietropaolo as Layla, Kai Harris as Zane and Aaliyah Magcasi as Camila.
  • Reprising their roles from the original series are:
    • Wayne Brady as Clover
    • Tim Gunn as Baileywick
    • Eric Stonestreet as Minimus
    • Sara Ramirez as Queen Miranda
    • Travis Willingham as King Roland
    • Darcy Rose Byrnes as Amber
    • Jess Harnell as Cedric
  • Additionally, more new voice talent was recently announced.
