"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" Continues to Set Box Office Records

Spidey is still your friendly neighborhood box office king.

There was little question that Spider-Man: Brand New Day was going to be a big movie when it came out. that said, I'm not sure anybody was quite ready for the size of the film's success.

What's Happening:

  • The Hollywood Reporter says that Sony is projecting Spider-Man: Brand New Day to win the domestic box office for the fourth consecutive weekend with a total of $36.5 million.
  • If the number holds, it will beat out another Sony film, Insidious: Out of the Further which is projected to bring in just short of $24 million domestically.
  • The projection for Spider-Man: Brand New Day would bring the film to a domestic box office total of $852 million.
  • That places it ahead of the previous film in the franchise, Spider-Man: No Way Home as the number three domestic box office movie of all-time.
  • It also makes Brand New Day the highest grossing domestic film in the history of Sony Pictures.
  • The movie is already the highest grossing movie ever worldwide, it set that record last weekend.
  • Spidey has a chance to win the box office again next weekend. While there are two significant releases scheduled, neither The Dog Stars or Coyote vs. ACME, is expected to bring in massive box office dollars. Both are projected significantly lower than what Spider-Man did this weekend.
