Getting Walt Disney World Ready For Halloween Is No Simple Task

Meet the team that gets Disney World ready for all the holidays.

The Halloween season is well underway at Walt Disney World and with all the fun attractions, events, and activities, it's one of theme park fans favorite times to visit. But that transformation every Halloween doesn't come without work.

What's Happening:

  • A new post on the Disney Parks Blog celebrates Disney's Holiday Services, the team that spends their time transforming the resort for the various holidays, frequently when nobody is watching.
  • A team of nearly 80 people are responsible for doing the work to decorate Walt Disney World Resort, and then to remove those decorations when the holiday is over.
  • The post highlights a particular Disney World cast member, Jorge, who has been part of the holiday team for 10 years.
  • He was directly involved in the Halloween overlay at Jock Lindsay's Hanger Bar at Disney Springs which has received the Halloween themed lights for only the second year.
  • In describing the sign he said: "When we decided to create each Halloween letter, we wanted each one to have its own unique personality, almost as if it were wearing its own Halloween costume. We approached each letter as a character with its own story to tell. "
  • While many of the Halloween themed decorations at parks like Magic Kingdom are returning favorites, there are some new ones including new Dumbo and Timothy Mouse pumpkin wreaths at the newly updated Storybook Circus.
  • The Holiday Services team is already preparing for November when it will be time to take down the Halloween decorations and shift everything into the Christmas holiday season.
