Disney News November 11-17, Destination D

Well, we knew that the Destination D event at Walt Disney World to celebrate Mickey’s 90th was going to be a big deal. We expected that some big announcements would be made as well. However, we didn’t know that there would be this much news.

What’s happening:

  • This weekend at D23’s Destination D event, Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products Chairman Bob Chapek, announced some of the changes coming to Disney Parks throughout the year.
  • Starting in 2019, Disney fans can look forward to attractions, shows and more at Walt Disney World and Disneyland.

Disneyland Resort:

  • Get Your Ears On: A Mickey and Minnie Celebration will feature new entertainment, food and merchandise.
  • Speaking of entertainment, Mickey’s Mix Magic will debut on January 18th. The show will feature all-new music, projections and lasers “that set the scene for an epic dance party that takes over almost the entire park.”
  • Mickey’s Soundsational Parade will return to the resort on January 25th. The parade will also feature a new float with Mickey himself!
  • Finally the names of two new attractions coming to Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge have been announced.

Hollywood Studios:

  • new nighttime projection show will be coming to Hollywood Studios in honor of the Park’s 30th anniversary.
  • Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is slated to open in Fall 2019.
  • The names of two new attractions coming to Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge have been announced.
  • More exciting details about the Star Wars-themed Resort opening at Walt Disney World.


  • In Epcot news, the official name of the Ratatouille attraction has been announced along with the news of a new Beauty and the Beast sing along coming to the France pavilion.
  • Canada will receive an update to its current Circlevision film.
  • World Showcase Lagoon will welcome a limited time show called Epcot Forever.

Walt Disney World Riviera Resort:

Destination D

  • Fans were offered a sneak peek at Disney’s Riviera Resort. This gorgeous new resort is Inspired by the European grandeur Walt Disney experienced in his travels along the Mediterranean coastline.
  • Projected to open in fall 2019, Disney’s Riviera Resort will be the 15th Disney Vacation Club property.
