California Grill will be getting a special dining experience to celebrate Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary.

What’s Happening:
- The California Grill website has been updated to include a message stating that a special dining experience is coming to the popular restaurant on top of the Contemporary Resort.
- With the special dining experience being created, California Grill will be unavailable for bookings after October 2, 2021.
- Guests looking to enjoy the views of California Grill during breakfast can do so now through September 10 by booking a reservation through The Wave… of American Flavors as the restaurant’s normal location undergoes refurbishment to get ready for the Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th anniversary.

Reimaging of Disney’s Contemporary Resort:
- Disney’s Contemporary Resort will have a new room design featuring a retro-modern aesthetic evoking Tomorrowland and Disney Pixar’s The Incredibles.
- As part of the work being done, the first-floor lobby will be closing, with the front desk temporarily relocated to the second floor. Work is expected to be complete by late September on the lobby enhancements.
- Many of the Guest Services in the lobby will remain open including elevators, escalators, restrooms, and pathways to the convention center and bus transportation.
Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary:
- All four parks will be decked out with special celebratory decorations, including new lighting packages on the four park icons. These “Beacons of Magic” will transform the icons every night.
- Over at Magic Kingdom, a new fireworks show, “Disney Enchantment,” will light up the sky while “Harmonious” takes place as EPCOT.
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom will get into the celebration with the new show “Disney KiteTails.”
- 50 golden character sculptures will debut at all four theme parks, along with “Mickey’s Celebration Cavalcade” at Magic Kingdom.
- Walt Disney World Resort announced new nametags coming for Cast Members to celebrate the 50th anniversary including those who were honored with the Walt Disney Legacy Award.
“The World’s Most Magical Celebration,” starts on October 1, 2021 at the Walt Disney World Resort and will continue to be celebrated for 18 months.
