Laughing Place Presents Countdown to Halloween 2020

Sure it’s the middle of September, but that’s not stopping us from starting our Halloween countdown early! Every day from now through October 31st, we’re taking a look at anything and everything related to Halloween! From park decorations and experiences, to shopping opportunities, scary movies, and so much more. We hope you’ll join us in this ongoing celebration of the frightfully fun and sometimes spooky season. Mwahahaha!

October 31, 2020: Emoji Quiz: Halloween Movies

Well the big day has finally arrived. To celebrate the holiday, we’ve put together a silly multiple choice quiz using emojis to describe a seasonal film. From Disney Channel fare to some scarier stuff, this 12 question game just might drive you batty! Happy Halloween!

October 30, 2020: Live with Kelly and Ryan Celebrates Hallowen

The ABC daytime talk show was full of spooky fun that included the hosts dressing up as Zombies and The Mandalorian characters for some silly sketches. Even the audiences participated in a costume contest with Groot and Maleficent designs landing in the top 5!

October 29, 2020: Haunted Mansion and Tower of Terror Pins at Walt Disney World

Pin collectors visiting Walt Disney World can bring home some ghoulishly delightful collectibles themed to The Haunted Mansion and Tower of Terror attractions.

October 28, 2020: Disney+ Deets Web Series

Disney+ Deets is a new web series that takes a deep dive into your favorite movies that are available stream on Disney+. To kick off the series, hosts Kenneth Brown and Marcellus Kidd share fun facts and little-known details about the Halloween/Christmas classic, The Nightmare Before Christmas. 

October 27, 2020: Universal Orlando Behind the Scenes for Halloween Horror Nights 2021

Fans of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando are already getting teasers for next year’s event! The resort shared a behind the scenes peek at a haunted maze that is nearly ready to go for what they promise to be the biggest year in the event’s history in 2021.

October 23, 2020: Disney Haunted Mansion Arrives in Treat Town

Have you ever wanted to go trick-or-treating at the Haunted Mansion? Well now you can, at least virtually! The Haunted Mansion has opened its doors to fans taking part in Mars Wrigley’s Treat Town. Now though Halloween fans can visit virtual neighborhoods to trick-or-treat and discover themed experiences.

October 16, 2020: George Takei Guest Stars in Amphibia’s Halloween Episode

In a special Halloween-themed episode of Amphibia, titled “The Shut-In,” famed Star Trek actor George Takei guest stars as Mr. Littlepot, a mysterious businessman who hired Hop Pop to drive him to visit the houses of various frogs in town. Tune in to Disney Channel tomorrow, October 17th to check out the special episode!

October 15, 2020: Review: Bad Hair

A horror satire set in 1989, Bad Hair follows an ambitious young woman who is constantly told that she needs to change the way she looks in order to get ahead in her career. When she finally gives in and changes her hair though, things don’t quite turn out the way she had planned. Find out how this film compares to other Halloween fare in Mack’s review.

October 14, 2020: Bite Size Halloween – Hulu, FX and Freeform

20th Digital Studio will premiere a series of 30 diverse, genre-bending short films for Halloween 2020. “Bite Size Halloween” ranges from horror comedy to psychological thrillers and everything in between! And guess what? There’s a Bite Size Halloween Jr. for the kiddos!

October 13, 2020: Haunt ‘O Ween LA

Mike takes a daytime drive through the SoCal Halloween experience that provides “spoopy” fun no matter the color of the sky. From colorful pumpkins and What We Do in the Shadows vampires, candy and festive fall decorations, LA’s 2020 Halloween offering will have you screaming with delight!

Join us for a photo tour of Downtown Disney as we try to get our hands on some highly-anticipated new (to Disneyland) Haunted Mansion merchandise! Plus we check out some other changes to the shopping and entertainment district.



October 11, 2020: Touchstone and Beyond: A History of Disney’s The Sixth Sense

Bill continues his look at the Touchstone library and explores The Sixth Sense this week. While the film is technically a mystery/thriller, there are plenty of spine tingling moments that make this a great Halloween feature as well.  

October 10, 2020: The Actors Fund to Present The Nightmare Before Christmas Virtual Concert

Watch Broadway stars sing your favorite Nightmare Before Christmas songs as The Actors Fund and the Lymphoma Research Foundation host a one-night-only virtual Halloween concert! Tickets are just $5 and can be purchased now. 

October 9, 2020: TV Review: Marvel’s Helstrom 

Siblings Daimon and Ana are the children of, wait for it…Satan, and you can guess the family experiences some pretty fiery drama. If you’re looking for something a bit different from the usual Marvel fare, be sure to check out the series that Mack says “hit[s] just the right amount of horror notes.”

October 8, 2020: Brick or Treat at LEGOLAND Florida

You’ll be in pieces over this family friendly event that’s taking place at LEGOLAND! Jeremiah reports back on all the spooky (but safe) experiences offered this year including trick-or-treating, live shows, and Halloween LEGO Brick character appearances.  

October 7, 2020: Spooktacular at SeaWorld San Diego

This past weekend SeaWorld San Diego joined the ranks of Southern California theme parks making the best of a bad situation by hosting Halloween festivities with physical distancing and facial coverings. Mike recaps the latest fall themed event available to guests.

October 6, 2020: DuckTales Halloween Episode “The Trickening”

It may be season three, but DuckTales finally got around to releasing a Halloween themed episode, and this one’s a real scream! September 30, 2020: Hocus Pocus Collection by ColourPop

September 29, 2020: Knott’s Taste of Fall-O-Ween

Mike (and Jeremiah) visit the park to check out this new festival offering that “manages to deliver a shocking amount of the tricks and treats.” From character photo ops with the Peanuts gang to delicious samples like boysenberry smoothies, you won’t want to miss out on the Knott’s Berry Farm modified Halloween experience.  

September 28, 2020: Halloween Experiences at Shanghai Disney Resort

From October 5-November 1, Halloween is taking over the resort! Guests can enjoy character cavalcades, trick-or-treating opportunities, seasonal snacks and of course shopping! This year will feature four fun Halloween collections including Duffy and Friends and a super cute Nightmare Before Christmas series.

September 27, 2020: Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay

Howl-O-Scream may not include any haunted houses this year, but guests can explore 10 terrifying scarezones and enjoy the returning “Fiends” show in a new outdoor setting. Mack reviews the socially distanced, but still scary Halloween offering at Busch Gardens.

September 26, 2020: Hocus Pocus Cast Reunion and Charity Event

“I think we should form a calming circle.” Indeed you should, because Bette Midler and her on screen sisters, Sarah Jessica Parker Kathy Najimy, are having a mini reunion on October 30th (squee)! This one night charity event benefits the New York Restoration Project.

September 25, 2020: Lunch at Minnie’s Halloween Dine at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Tony takes us to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the return of character dining at the park. Minnie and the gang are dressed in Halloween costumes for Minnie’s Halloween Dine at the Hollywood and Vine restaurant near Echo Lake.

September 24, 2020: Scarecrow Stalk at Universal Studios Florida

Universal Orlando Resort may have cancelled Halloween Horror Nights for 2020, but there’s still plenty of spooky fun for guests to enjoy this season. Mack checks out the new Scarecrow Stalk scavenger hunt, which allows guests to explore the park and earn a sweet treat.

September 23, 2020: What We Do in the Shadows to be Featured at HAUNTOWEEN LA

HAUNTOWEEN LA is an un-boo-lievably fun, child-friendly, immersive, interactive, and safe drive-thru experience that includes a variety of installations, like a Jack-O'-Lantern tunnel with over 1,000 brightly lit pumpkins and a blacklight tunnel powered by FX's Emmy-nominated series What We Do in the Shadows.

SeaWorld Orlando is hosting the ultimate Halloween drive-in movie experience with Flicks & Frights! Saturdays and select Fridays from now through October 31st, guests can attend a screening of a haunted family classic or something a little more sinister geared towards adults.
